This acrylic, ink, and charcoal drawing was created in a single impulsive and improvised session, without a great deal of explicit intention as to what the result may be, beyond a portrait.  The drawing is 22″ x 30″ on paper, and was completed in the Fall of 2022.

John Gianniny is an artist and educator based in New York.  Much of his painting and illustrative work present striking abstracted portraits with nuanced or extreme emotional affect and bold colors, abruptly layered over one another until a sense of balance is achieved in both expression and composition.
